OUR STORY
With a mantra of “stronger, harder, faster”, the Abu Dhabi Jets mission is to honour women and men throughout the world who have survived, but also succumbed to, Breast Cancer by “paddling with a purpose”. Our aim is to promote team fitness in a fun, welcoming, motivating, inclusive and supportive environment.
Established in 2012, the Abu Dhabi Jets is an all women’s dragon boat team and we aspire to spread breast cancer awareness though the Middle East and beyond- through our festival participation, organized events, website and social media presence as well as national print media coverage throughout the year. Our team provides an opportunity for community wide participation in the sport of dragon boat paddling and we continue to welcome and encourage new members annually.
We are a enthusiastic group of dynamic, multicultural women who range in age from 28-65 years old, with worldwide geographic representation united for a common cause. We are women from all walks of life, sharing a passion for the sport, our beloved team and our local community in Abu Dhabi and will continually strive to spread our message, which we hold dear in our hearts.
Our team is managed by paddler volunteers that believe in our strong message to spread awareness through our ongoing commitment and dedication, but most importantly our integrity and sense of fun.
We paddle to create awareness, support and remember all whom have been affected by breast cancer whilst continuing to bring a community of women together to further this cause. We are also registered with the International Breast Cancer Paddlers Commission and operate under the umbrella of the UAE Dragon Boat Association (UAEDBA).
Practicing twice weekly on Monday and Wednesday mornings at the Eastern Mangroves Promenade in Abu Dhabi. During our regular season, we have approximately 35-40 active members, but with every season we grow and welcome new members from all walks of life. We take pride in being a diverse and multicultural team and welcome all women to participate in what is the first all-women’s dragon boat team in Abu Dhabi.
